Last Thursday I went to a unified basketball game @ Roosevelt High School. It was Pack The Gym Day. They had band and cheerleaders. It was a close exciting game with lots of great long shots. Both teams played really well but in the end Ballard won 33-30. Please send me stories and photos of other Seattle Unified Basketball games.
This happened December 16 at Roosevelt High School. It was a very fun event. Thanks to Delaney for organizing, the Robotics Club Students at King's School, all the participants and the spectators. The program was featured on KING5. http://www.king5.com/story/news/education/2015/12/15/students-from-kings-schools-have-committed-to-teaching-students-with-special-needs-how-to-build-their-own-robots/77356266/ 10/18/2015 0 Comments Unified Robotics Starting SoonMy friend Delaney Foster from King's School is starting an exciting new Unified Robotics program. This will be 5-7 week program that is available to students at all levels. Students will design and build robots alongside peer mentors from the King's High School robotics team. Each mini team will consist of four students. Each mini team will consist of about four students with a varying ratio of students and mentors. The teams will meet once a week and teams will have 5 to 6 weeks to build and program their robots. The final week will be a tournament style competition. Anyone is welcome to join. No prior experience necessary. The club will meet at Roosevelt high school on Wednesdays at 3:45 pm starting October 21. Meetings will be in room 341. Mr. Ledcke's room. Please contact Delaney Foster [email protected] for additional information. 10/18/2015 0 Comments October 13 Seattle YAC Meeting ReportThe first meeting of the Seattle area YAC for the 2015-2016 school year took place at the Seattle Public Library on Tuesday October 13. Six schools were represented (APL, Ballard, Hazel Wolf, Garfield, Kings, Roosevelt). After introductions, Delaney Foster from Kings School, announced an exciting new Unified Robotics program that is just getting started. Please refer to the separate blog entry for details. We also discussed adding more sports. The biggest difficulty is finding coaches. There was a consensus that coaches should be paid. There was a discussion about middle schools. Hazel Wolf was the only middle school in attendance. Middle school sports in Seattle are no cut if there are enough coaches. We need more ideas for getting middle schools organized. The Roosevelt Unify program has non sport social opportunities available including dance and drama. It would be great to get those programs going at other schools. Students at schools without Unify programs can ask to participate at schools with programs. Our next meeting is Tuesday December 8 at Garfield. Stay tuned for details and help spread the Word so we can get more schools to participate. |
